If things happen in sets of three, then I’m thinking another couple of people from the past (defined as: at least two months ago) will be reappearing here shortly.
Without giving details (see the Ground Rules), here’s the jist of it.
First, there was an Internet buddy of mine from years ago in Arkansas who, just before I went to Hawaii, sent me an e-mail to catch up. He’s doing well and we had a chance to talk a bit two or three weeks ago.
Then, there was someone locally who had borrowed two or three DVDs from me early in the summer (ish). He e-mailed me while I was IN Hawaii saying he’d just moved into a new place and had found my movies … and would I like to get together sometime to pick them up?
Next came Sunday’s sighting (at the Water Tower Theater’s brilliant production of “Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” which I saw with my coworker and friend Kerry) of someone I introduced to (and then met for the first time at an event hosted by) YAP. I hadn’t seen said person since our Improv outing several months ago, and didn’t say hello, but still. How random.
I was content to call it a full set of three blasts from the past earlier today, until I logged onto Yahoo Messenger and got an offline message from a guy I went out with a couple of times while at UA – Fayetteville (during grad school) … I hadn’t heard from him in ages, and we exchanged a few messages today to catch up. He’s been dating his girlfriend for about a year and is thinking in the direction of marriage (yay for him!), but his reaching out could well mean I’ve started another set of three.
So … um, who’s next? 🙂
