good thing I’m an optimist.

Here’s the feedback I just submitted to Posados Web site (verbatim):

I’ve been to this Posados (and others) many times, and I have to say that tonight’s experience was BY FAR THE WORST I’ve ever had, nearly at any restaurant ever… it was really THAT bad. I arrived and it took a full five minutes for anyone to greet me, once I was seated another five minutes passed before anyone in the restaurant acknowledged me … but when I did order, both my appetizer and entree came out within three minutes of each other.

I ate the appetizer first, so when I got to my meal, it was fairly lukewarm. A manager stopped by while I was still working on the appetizer and asked how my meal was; I did not try to mask my disappointment and mumbled, “OK, I guess,” and he just walked away. Wouldn’t you think he’d notice my entree was three feet from me (eating alone) at my table and hadn’t been touched? Nope. My food was mediocre, but I ran out of soda fairly quickly into my lukewarm entree and had to wait ten more minutes for the server to realize I was still there. I asked for tortillas, but they didn’t come until I’d finished what I could stomach of the now-cold entree. When he dropped off the check, understandably (I think) I was ready to pay, but when he brought back my credit card receipt I noticed I’d been charged twice for the soda @ $1.79 apiece. Unless you’re now charging for drink refills at an exorbitant rate, I figured this was a mistake worthy of correcting, but he never came back to my table again (I waited ten minutes). So, I left a note indicating he could take the extra soda off + tax and that would be his tip. Which was far more of a tip than I’d frankly decided to leave. But what was I gonna do?

Really, you should be ashamed, this was a HORRIBLE performance by what has otherwise always been a wonderful restaurant for us. I cannot imagine returning in the forseeable future.

For those who might be curious, this was Posados at 3421 North Central Expressway in Plano. If you start to feel like a little Posados anytime soon, please, RUN AWAY FAST!

But, as my subject line indicates, it’s a good thing I’m an optimist. My 90-minute meal comprising of lukewarm food and not nearly enough beverage did offer these not-to-be-overlooked plusses:

  • Since the tip was the extra beverage, I didn’t have to do any math. Anyone who knows my inability to do simple math computations (like addition and subtraction) can appreciate this unexpected bonus.
  • Given that I went out to eat (rather than staying home) specifically because I tend to get more reading homework done when I’m not distracted by the dog, cats, fish, telephone or TV, my 90 minutes of waiting on dumbass waiter Ken meant I had all sorts of time to read. And indeed, I read nearly twenty pages of “Gender Discrimination and the Law,” my riveting Law for Women textbook.
  • I got to overhear the women behind me talking about thong underwear at Victoria’s Secret. Really, it was fascinating.
