the hot flashes return

Dear God. After months of Texas summer heat (though, I would add, nothing like usual), nature has rewarded my patience by giving us a fantastically cool autumn day here in Texas. The temperature outside right now — at nearly 11 a.m. — is a breezy 55. In other words, my idea of heavenly fall weather.

But unfortunately, this has also inspired those in my office to — yes, you guessed it — turn on the heater.

Now, I can deal with the smell of a newly turned-on heater, though it’s really not my idea of pleasant. What I cannot deal with, however, is the return of the hot flashes that made life in my office last winter damned near unbearable.

My office temp currently is 81 degrees. EIGHTY-ONE DEGREES, people!

This, from a woman who keeps her apartment at 72 because I firmly believe in the idea that, when indoors, if you don’t need a blanket, it’s too damned hot.

{sigh} I can feel the thermostat fight already brewing.

  1. I got you beat, I've been known to have the temperature as low as 68 in the house. But most girls seem to hate that…you appear to be an exception……and the oracle of air conditioning says that is a good thing

  2. To this day I have never understood the logic of the people where 72 degrees in comfortable in the summer but since the temp just braised the 50's they must turn on the heater and it must be 80 degrees. Hello! If 80 is not comfortable when it is 100 outside why is it comfortable when it is 50 outside. Luckely I sit by the window and althought I may be cold in the winter it is much better than eveyone else that is sweating in the office.
