what would you do?

I’ve bitched and moaned for years about how hot my damned office is. Every year when it turns cooler outside (like today, it’s — ohmygod — 65 degrees outside! crap! break out the winter sweaters!) some gremlin in our building’s HVAC system decides it’s once again time to punish Liz. I can usually make an argument for cooler air when it’s 90+ degrees outside, but whenever anyone gets the sense that colder weather’s a-coming, well, it’s just freaking insane inside these walls.

And I’ve been bitching and moaning about the temperature at work so much lately that my sense is that my coworkers are probably relieved when (like yesterday) I’m not here.

So it’s a TEENSY bit cooler outside today, and except for a momentary lapse inspired by my jerking the thermostat back towards 70 degrees, it’s literally been 80 degrees in my office all day.

I am at my breaking point.

I don’t know what to do. I’ve whined. I’ve put in work orders. I’ve evil-stared down people who complain they’re cold. I’ve put up a sarcastic, mean-spirited sign in my office for everyone to see (I’ll post it sometime).

And if I have to endure another hellish winter in this damned building, I will go insane.

So, faithful LizBlog readers, PLEASE, give me your suggestions. I can’t stop coming to work, or just up and leave when my office is stifling. Do I continue being a pest? Keep playing tug-of-war with the thermostat? Start wearing shorts and tank tops to work?

It really ticks me off that I’ve finally found a job I love, working with people I love, and to keep it I have to literally sweat it out.

Advice, PLEASE.

I *really* want to be cold.
