Finding lost treasures

When in grad school at UA, I bought a Gateway computer that drove me nuts, but after a couple of trips back to the Gateway hospital, the computer stabilized and has ever since been lounging around in relative comfort playing the role of backup to my newer Dell.

Because my life’s in the process of going back into boxes for the purposes of streamlining (via the yard sale Nov. 4) and moving, I decided to hook up the Gateway tonight to see if anything on its hard drive needed excavating before reformatting.

Lo and behold, would you believe, I’ve refound about 2 gigs worth of music there that I KNEW I had, but haven’t been able to put my hands on for … well, a couple of years now.

The biggest find of the stack is without doubt a song called “Oyeme,” a Spanish song by a singer (I now know to be) named Monica Naranjo. I’ve been searching for that damned song forever, and voila — it’s there. {sigh}

In case you’re wondering, that’s one of the MANY songs my roommate freshman year of college (the incomparable Fulya, who hailed from Istanbul) exposed me to. It’s so cool to have it again! Yay!

For those of you who question my sanity in moving so much — let this be a lesson: There ARE benefits to doing something that gives you an often-needed excuse to clean out your crap. 🙂

Postscript: I almost forgot — hell, I DID forget … another great (re-)find is “No Diggity” by Blackstreet … a true *gem* of a song that I remember in conjunction with the week I bought my Mustang convertible. Excuse me everyone, I have some dancing around the apartment to do!
