… and I’m spent.

I turned in two papers and a final exam today, thus concluding (on precious little sleep) my first semester in the doc program. PRAISE ALLAH for that. I’m so ready for a very peaceful night’s sleep, and for the tension that’s taken residence in my shoulders, neck and jaw to subside.

To celebrate, Daniel and I went out for a nicer-than-usual dinner tonight and then proceeded to Kohl’s, where I purchased my first snappy leather jacket ever (with no thanks to the cashier person, who was so stupid it took nearly 15 minutes to check me out, gah). Even though Norell rules prohibit personal purchases between Thanksgiving and Christmas, an exception will generally be granted for those purchases qualifying as “emergencies” … and as temperatures tonight are forecast below freezing, I decided my flimsy Sam’s Club fleece “jacket” (now nearly a decade old) needs to be retired. My mom may not agree with me, but I think this purchase should be exempt due to the emergency clause.

And if not, I’ll happily accept $120 from her. 😉

I expect everyone to be a-twitter tomorrow about the forecast, since I brought it up. Here’s the latest for north Texas from the National Weather Service, courtesy o’ weather.com:

“A MIXTURE OF WINTER PRECIPITATION AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL AFFECT NORTH TEXAS LATE TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY. WINTER PRECIPITATION…INCLUDING FREEZING RAIN…SLEET…AND POSSIBLY SNOW…WILL START TO FALL IN THE NORTHWEST PORTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS OVERNIGHT TUESDAY AND SPREAD ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS WEDNESDAY.”

Just mention the words “wintry mix,” and bread and milk instantly disappear from the grocery shelves. Anyone up for a trip to Tom Thumb? HA!

Oh, and one last thing. Last Friday night my friend Matt called with a last-minute offer to go to the Stars game versus Carolina. We had nothing better to do (other than my pressing need to work on the aforementioned papers and exam), so we decided to take him up on the very generous offer. Boy, am I glad we did; his seats were light years better (IMO) than the ones we had earlier in teh season from Daniel’s parents — those seats might have been closer to the ice, but I couldn’t decipher anything that was happening. Matt’s seats up in the upper deck were FANTASTIC — I totally saw, for the first time in my life, some semblance of team strategy to hockey. It was a fantastic game that went into overtime and ended with the Stars winning. So here’s a great big ol’ THANKS to Matt for giving us the tickets. 🙂

Alright, I’ve got that hot-eyes/eyelid-twitching/hot-cold feeling unique to sleep deprivation, so I’m headed to bed. Thanks to you all for being so understanding and supportive this semester. It means a lot!
