animated brilliance

Gary was the first to introduce me to Family Guy, the short-lived animated series from Fox. The three seasons that ran originally are equal parts hilarity and brilliance, and I can always count on the series DVDs for a good chuckle when nothing else is on TV.

Which is why, when Fox announced it was bringing Family Guy back with new episodes starting May 1, I was elated. Last night’s episode was one of the best I’ve ever seen, in particular the tongue-in-cheek opening sequence (if you haven’t seen it, no description I can give you here could possibly do it justice — so just watch, mkay?).

You can check out some short clips from older episodes and send ecards, among other fun activities, at the official Web site.

LATE ADDITION: Here’s an NPR news story (audio — Real or Windows Media) about the return of Family Guy that gives a short clip of the intro.
