Returning to civilization

I don’t mean to imply that those with whom I spent time over the holidays are uncivilized, but rather that getting up at 6 a.m. is apparently something I’m going to have to ease my way back into — since today, I hit snooze for 30 minutes before turning off my alarm clock and sleeping through until about 7:10 a.m. Whoops.

Julie‘s in town and it’s been tremendous fun hanging out with her again.

Mark‘s party Saturday night was fun.

Theater Three (in Dallas) is currently doing a special run of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!” … Julie and I went to see it last night, and so help me, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything more hilarious on any sort of stage before in my life. It was HYSTERICAL. It’s playing through Jan. 30 and well worth your money if you want to laugh for two hours straight through.

And last night at Friday’s, Julie and I had a waitress who brought me an iced tea after I specifically said twice that I wanted a Diet Coke. She attempted to explain: “I think it was like a Sigmund and Freud thing, you know, one of those slips.”

I nearly fell out of my chair.

Julie said, “I don’t think that was really a Freudian slip.” Right on, Julie.

My objection was somewhat larger in scope, as I explained to Julie, “I think she’s confusing Sigmund Freud with Seigfried and Roy.”

D’oh!
